David & Nuala Welcome You To The Old Wine Vaults, Faversham.
3rd IN SWALE CAMRA'S PUB OF THE YEAR 2012
“We are both local people and believe in Faversham. We recognised a niche in Faversham for a good quality drinking and eating establishment where you can get a great steak and a warm welcome!”
Since we refurbished and reopened this lovely 16th century public house in Faversham at the beginning of 2009, our reputation for pub food, in particular our specialist steak menu, has spread throughout the county, so that we now regularly welcome parties from many miles' distance who come to sample our home cooking and real ale.
Our speciality steak menu is full of succulent, tender steaks, from various cuts, cooked just the way you like them, and with a range of accompaniments.
If you're vegetarian, we have a choice of freshly cooked meals, carefully prepared in an area separate from the meat dishes, to tempt the most discerning tastes.
Many older Faversham residents will recall the pub as the old Albion Wine Vaults as it was known up until 1965. There is some conjecture that there was in fact a brewery in the building in the 1700's, with the first records of it being a tavern in the 17th Century. Records show that in 1770 Valentine Court purchased the premises including an acre of hop gardens for £515.
"With so much history, a fabulous location and enticing menu, The Old Wine Vaults is a superb destination".
