Since we refurbished and reopened this lovely 16th century public house in Faversham at the beginning of 2009, our reputation for pub food, in particular our specialist steak menu, has spread throughout the county, so that we now regularly welcome parties from many miles' distance who come to sample our home cooking and real ale.
Many older Faversham residents will recall the pub as The Old Albion Wine Vaults as it was known up until 1965. There is some conjecture that there was in fact a brewery in the building in the 1700's, with the first records of it being a tavern in the 17th Century. Records show that in 1770 Valentine Court purchased the premises including an acre of hop gardens for £515.

Food served: Monday to Thursday 12noon to 2.30pm, 6.30pm to 9.00pm Friday & Saturday 12 noon to 9pm and Sunday 12noon to 4pm.
We always stock at least one beer from a South East brewery! Including (but not limited to): Hopdaemon Brewery Doddington, Millis Brewer Dartford, Wantsum Brewery Canterbury, Hop Fuzz Brewery Hythe, Tunbridge Wells Brewery, Gadds Ramsgate, Whitstable Brewery plus many more! Dudda’s Tun Cider and apple juice from Pine Tree Farm (Doddington), Meat (including REAL pork scratchings) from South East Farmers via Baldy’s Butchers (Faversham), Wine from Hercules Wine (Faversham), Flowers from Lotty’s Flowers (Faversham), Fruit and vegetables from Kent growers when possible. We purchase from Ye Olde Stationary Shoppe, J C Lock and safe, M & J Supplies, Mackanade Farm Shop. We try to use local trades people where possible.
